I was born and raised in Cocoa, FL far too many years ago. I've been married for 23 years and have two kids ages 13 and 10. I lived in Denver CO for 18 years and escaped that insanity by moving to Rapid City SD in 2004.
I am a major Trekkie and general fan of sci-fi and fantasy literature, television and movies. I'm a lifetime "rice" man. Have ridden since 1978.

Ride: 2000 Honda Shadow Spirit VT1100CAY- It is a very sweet ride.
Born and raised in South Dakota, settled in Paha Sapa. Married for 4 years to Jenni. We are Foster Parents hoping to adopt. Spent my life runnin' around, playing music (still do), chasing women and boozing. God carried me through all the hell I created. Now 42, he lets me walk and RIDE on this great journey of sobriety. I love good humor and being around wise, positive and healthy people. Sobriety date (Go JC!) March 4, 2001 in Sheridan, Wyoming. Last drinks– Jack/Coke and an MGD. I love dogs, my garage, chocolate, ice cream, Twizzlers, and dining at the Alpine Inn.

Our friend, Moe E, was a valued member of our circle of friends in recovery. He never took time for self-pity and always had a smile for anyone he met. His hand was always out in greeting to the visitor or newcomer. After being diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2001, and given only 6 months to live, he beat the odds and stayed with us for 5 years. He fought the good fight to the end and never gave up hope.
Once, upon returning from the Mayo clinic, he got off the plane in Rapid City and told his wife that he was tired and just wanted to go home. Without his knowledge, his friends in Rapid City had planned a surprise “welcome home” party. His wife, Sharon, took him there instead of home. When he arrived, he found that his friends were all wearing red t-shirts that they had made up with “Just Say Moe” in large white letters on the front. The surprise was evident in the look on his face. He knew, without a doubt, that he had a second family. This family, as well as that of his blood, loved him unconditionally.
This is the origin of the patch you see on our page. He was an inspiration to all those who knew him and proved that joy could be found in recovery despite having to deal with any aspect of “life on life’s terms”. He is sorely missed and will never be forgotten amongst us. Chapter 9 unanimously decided that Moe should forever be an honorary member. {Click on the patch to the left to read his obituary from the Rapid City Journal.} |
